the dagger-Khanjar

picture taken at Muttrah Souk

A symbol of pride, manhood and elegance, the khanjar is one of Oman’s most distinctive products. This curved dagger is a must-wear for Omani men, and will be seen proudly displayed at all important occasions. Omani craftsmen and silversmiths are renowned for their khanjar creations that are truly works of art.Originally, the hilts of some of the khanjars were made from rhino horn. But today, keeping the lives of these fast-depleting animals in mind, plastic and fiberglass are among the materials used here. The body of the khanjar is made from dual pieces of wood. It is artistically embellished in silver or sometimes in gold. Khanjars can cost anywhere between from RO 30 to RO 500, depending on the quality, decoration and work on the dagger, scabbard and belt.

painting?

My daughter and I spent a quality time together by doing some painting. We talked, we laughed and we eat n eat . Haahaa. To start with we tried some ceramic painting, she has done this at school and I am new to it. I suck big time! Really.

These cafe serves food and obviously the food came a bit late and the beef was a bit tough . Well never mind that at least the mushroom's soup tasted like heaven. So much so we started to sponge off the white mugs and later on dab some colours to it and have fun with the brushes. * free hands . It's all up to your imagination, and what do you know we finished working on it like an hour. We enjoyed every minute of it.

We were given 5 choices of colours and two puffy colours to finished it off. Later on they will placed it in a special oven in order to make the colours stay and and ready to be used. We can collect it after a week.
(that's kinda a bit long) I think!
Besides those mugs, there's a lot of stuff to choose from, of course it comes with a different price tags :P

Thursday/Friday

Enjoying our weekend in Dubai with the family and a group of friends.
The weather was nice .
We went to the factory outlet in Al Ain and we might drive there again .
The price were good and somehow reduced and less crowded....
Or is it because of Friday?

Nando's Tonite?

I can't remember when was the last time we had dinner at Nando's.

It must have been a while. The interior was nice and cosy. Quite spacious

and the staff was friendly. The food was good and we don't mind coming back for more.

Our favourite is the c'ken Espetada..

We left Muscat at 7am for a day trip to Dubai to check out the summer sales.
We reached home at dawn, and you could guess what time did we leave the UAE.
Go figure. :P

Braving the sun....

We were at the Muttrah souk yesterday and it's unbelievably hot.The mercury is rising and reaching to its 43deg c. I was picked up just before 9am to accompany our lady visitors from Brunei.
Our visitor's were too busy with the shopping's and couldn't care less about the weather. This is due to the fact that the souk has a lot to offer and many nice things to shop for. :P

Table covers/jewellery/silverware/clothes/shoes/handicraft/carpets/perfumes
bags/abayas are the items you could find in the souk.
I had an eye for the Kashmir's bedspread and couldn't resist the temptation
and ended buying !:P
The morning shopping ended just before midday and looks like our visitors were happy and left the souk with hands full of shopping bags.
Then we headed back to town for a quick lunch.

coming down with flu :(

Feeling sick the whole morning as I am coming down with the flu and a scratchy throat.
Been drinking loads of Masafi water lately (mineral water) to avoid dehydration . After taking the "actifed" I felt drowsy and slept almost all afternoon today. Alhamdulillah am feeling much better now. It's been really hot outside and the temperature is rising steadily and sometimes reaching 39 deg c. My son is also getting better after a few episode of fever and runny nose.
Hopefully I could sleep better tonight and hope the flu won't bug me anymore as I really need a good rest. :)

Hot weather

We were supposed to drive to Abu Dhabi and Dubai today with a group of friends, unfortunately
my son is down with fever and so am I.
The weather is scorching hot and the mecury is touching 39deg c.
Nothing much to do, we stayed home and watch DVD's and hubby didn't feel like to watch the aliens so he cleans the aquarium. :P
Will go out in a bit when the weather is slightly better.... .
